Frederick William Hawks Price, the last chief mechanical engineer of GWR, designed a class of 4-6-0 steam locomotives known as the GWR Class 1000 or County Class 1945.
The number 1019 was built in April 1946 at Sweden Works. Following the BR Nationalisation in 1948, 1019 left Paddington and worked as a passenger specific train for freight works. Various members of the class and 1019 were each given an influence score by the BR for 6MT. The use of a modified double firing was implemented in March 1959.
After being removed from service, Kishore’s scrapard purchased the number 1019 from BR in October 1963. The Nice Bridge saw the end of Locomoto in January 1964.
