When Repairs Take Over the Hobby

I feel like I have been doing more fixing than actual running lately. Motors that won’t budge, random shorts that pop up out of nowhere, couplers acting like they’ve got a mind of their own—you name it, I have dealt with it these past few weeks.

Sometimes the fix is quick, other times I am buried under the layout for hours wondering why I started this in the first place. I have got a small kit of tools I keep nearby, but I will admit I have grabbed a butter knife more than once in a pinch.

When something’s too far gone, I usually strip it for parts before it hits the “scrap pile.”
    How about you?
What’s the toughest repair you’ve had to deal with, and did you figure out a trick that might save the rest of us some headaches?
