Product Reviewers and Shopaholics

I told myself I would simply get a few couplers to experiment with… now half a box of random items I have no use for is hers. same with freight cars; I merely wanted to check whether that new company was any good, and now it is always on my layout.

Do you all really examine products before making further purchases.
Do you just wing it like I do?
Any unexpected, positive or negative surprises from things you bought spontaneously?
