Railway Legends Reimagined: A Collaborative Tribute Build
-
Let’s come together to honor a legendary real world railway by reimagining it in our own creative ways!
Pick a famous line (like the Flying Scotsman route, Canadian Pacific through the Rockies, or the Transcontinental Railroad), then reinterpret it:
In a different era (steam to diesel transition? future tech?)
With alternate industries or towns
Through your layout scale or style
Each participant builds a section or element inspired by the original route but with a twist. Let’s see how our collective tribute evolves!
Who’s in? Drop your ideas, sketches, or chosen segment and let’s build this legend together.
I’m thinking of doing a reimagined Canadian Pacific through the Rockies, but set in an alternate 1980s where steam never fully phased out. Imagine rebuilt Hudsons and streamlined 4-8-4s sharing the rails with early SD40s—classic smoke plumes cutting through neon-lit mountain tunnels. The towns could be mining-tech hybrids, with retro-futuristic depots and crane systems.
For my segment, I’ll take on a cliffside curve with a small siding and a fueling station that still serves coal and diesel. I’ll sketch out the concept soon and post updates as I go.
Can’t wait to see what others come up with—let’s bring this tribute line to life!
