We’ve all had a loco fall off the bench, a coupler snap mid-run, or a beloved model show its age but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the line!
This space is for showcasing your repair success stories big or small. Whether you’ve fixed a cracked shell, rewired a shorting motor, or brought a vintage model back to life, we want to hear about it.
Share before-and-after photos, tools you used, or techniques that worked well. Your story might help someone else save their favorite engine!
A couple of weeks ago, my old SD40 took a nosedive off the edge of the workbench. The front handrails were bent, one coupler popped out, and it refused to move when I put it back on the track. I figured it was done for, but after poking around I found one of the pickup wires had come loose. A bit of solder, some gentle bending on the rails, and a fresh drop of oil on the gears and it was running again.
It’s got a few battle scars now, but honestly I kind of like it that way—it tells a story.
